The conservation of the Park's natural heritage through appropriate management decisions is a priority objective. The aim of the actions carried out are conservation of its natural environment and processes that underpin them. Therefore, any development action must be compatible with the above objectives.
The following principles apply when implementing conservation actions:
- Use the best available knowledge and the principle of prevention. If in doubt, apply the most favourable decision for nature conservation.
- Promote voluntary agreements for incorporating park territories into the public heritage, as well as, the existing rights in rem.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Administrations present within the scope of the Park.
- Administration to legally, and without prejudice to the application of the principle of authority, favour information over prohibition.
- Actions to minimally interfere with natural processes, so that park status evolves to the one resulting from natural evolution. Restoration of the biodiversity and functionality of the park's natural systems and actions to prevent disappearance of native taxa. Prohibition of non-indigenous taxa and eradication of invasive species on a priority basis.
- Preservation of the landscape, water, and air quality.
