The islands' abundant marine life sustains nesting seabird populations such as the yellow-footed seagulls and shags, and to a lesser extent the lesser black-backed gull, European storm petrel and scopoli's shearwater. These marine resources are also availed by wintering or migratory birds such as the great cormorant, the gannet, the Balearic shearwater, the guillemot and the sandwich tern.
Birds such as the peregrine falcon, amphibians like the salamander, reptiles such as the bedriaga's skink, and insects like the Spanish festoon (Zerynthia rumina) appear in areas with less marine influence. Mammals are scarce in the Park, but there are abundant rabbits that have practically no predators. Otters live and fish along the coast of the islands.
